I have planed to post the scripts of listening section of previous national examination tests both for SMA-MA or SMK. The script below for previous listening section is for UN SMK 2011 Part 1, Picture. This post will be followed by next parts and other previous years of listening section. Well, below is the script of listening section for the the SMK UN 2011

Listening Section
In this section of the test, you will have the chance to show how well you understand spoken English. There are four parts to this section, with special directions for each part.
Part I. Pictures
Question 1 to 4
Directions: For each question, there is a picture in your test book and four short statements about it on the tape. They are spoken twice, and are not written out in your test book, so you must listen carefully. You must choose one statement- A, B, C, or D that best describes the picture. Then, on your answer sheet, mark your choice.
Example
Look at the picture and listen to the four sentences.
A. The woman is touching the screen
B. The doctor is sitting behind the patient
C. The patient is being examined
D. The visitors are leaving the hospital
Choice (C) - “The patient is being examined” - best describes what is seen in the picture. Therefore, you should mark (C) on your answer sheet.

They will not be printed in your test book, so you must listen carefully to understand what the speakers say. You have to choose the best response to each question.
Now listen to a sample question.
You will hear:
Woman : Could you work until nine tonight?
You will also hear :
Man :
A. No, it doesn’t work.
B. Yes, you can go to work now.
C. No, I have to be home by eight.
Choice (C) - "No, I have to be home by eight" - is the best response to the question “Could you work untill nine tonight?” Therefore, you should mark (C) on your answer sheet.

In your test book, you will read a question about each conversation. The question will be followed by four answers. You have to choose the best answer to each question and mark it on your answer sheet.
Example:

Woman : What kind of car will he be driving?
Man : He’ll be driving a large, black limousine
You will read:

Choice (A) - “Look for a specific automobile” - is the best answer to the question “What will the man do?” Therefore, you should mark (A) on your answer sheet.

Simple Exercises to Improve English Listening Skill

Exercising listening skill is very important. For ESL (English as second language) students, Listening is one of four main skills which should be mastered. Having good listening skill will lead us ti have good point in examination. Beside that, in interpersonal and transactional communication, listening skill help us maintaining good relations with other people. Listening skill is also important in business, workplace.

So What exercise can improve our English listening skills

Summarizing
Whenever we are listening to somebody, we can make a habit to give oral acknowledgments such as 'I see', 'I understand' even ' how come". And then we can summarize in our own words what we understood of whatever was said by the other person. Summarizing the conversation in our own words every now and then. Such summarizing speech helps us to keeps actively involved in the conversation. Summarizing what we have heard also can help in preventing any misunderstandings because if we misunderstood something then the speaker can straightly correct us. It is possible if we are repeating in our words from what he/she has said.

Asking questions
Asking questions whenever we need clarification is another simple way to exercise our listening skill. Asking questions can help keep the conversation alive, prevent misunderstandings, and also help in developing our listening skills.

English Competency Standard (SKL) is great reference to make preparation for your listening test. The following is SKL bahasa Inggris SMK 20011, however SKL seems to be very similar form year to year. So I think SKL Bahasa Inggris SMK for UN 2012 (National Examination) will not be so different. Listening test can be very hard as it last in very short time. However Getting success in listening test can be reached by certain strategies when doing English listening test. The following are some useful tips for succeeding in listening test
Concentrate - it's really easy to miss the answers if you lose concentration, even for a moment.
Read ahead - it's more important to be ready for the next section than to check the questions you have already done (check them at the end when you have 10 minutes to transfer your answers).
Predict - when reading ahead, try to predict what type of word you need (is it going to be a noun, verb etc?). It might help to write notes on the question paper (in your language).
Have the next question in mind - when you're listening for the answer to a question, be ready for the next question as well. It's easy to miss several answers if all of your focus is on one question.
Expect 'tricks' - the speaker may confuse you (see my recent 'listening' lessons for examples).
Know the exam - do you know what kind of topics/questions to expect in each section?
Spelling - as well as testing your understanding and vocabulary, Listening test is also a spelling test!
Difficult questions - don't worry if some questions seem really difficult. The exam needs to have questions that separate band 8 from band 9. If you are worrying too much, you might miss the easier questions that could get you a band 7.

Listening test is commonly considered as the most difficult test among English skills test. Fortunately for National exam in senior high school just presented listening and reading section, excluding speaking and writing. However, most students need hard study, hard exercise especially for listening section test.

The following materials in MP3 files of listening section from previous National Examination (UNAS/UN) are free to download. Hopefully the MP3 of listening section of UN/Unas can help student’s preparation better for next exam. As all known, recent national exam for high school includes listening comprehension and this is commonly found as difficult one by high school student.
